HISTORY

193- Lucius Septimus Severus is crowned the Emperor of Rome

979- A challenge to the crown of King Aethelred II of England is made
 
1028- Henry III is crowned king by his father, the German emperor, Conrad II the Sailor

1191- 85 year old Giacinto Bobo is made Pope Coelestinus III

1536- King Henry VIII takes possession of minor monasteries (Image Left)

1611- The first known use of the word ‘telescope’ is made by Prince Federico Cesi

1792- French declares war on Australia, a major part in the beginning of the French Revolutionary wars

1828- Lexicographer, Noah Webster, files America’s first dictionary for copyright (Image Right)

1831- A bridge in Manchester, England, collapses due to soldiers marching on it

1849- Hungary declares itself an independent country, and independent of Austria, and declares Louis Kossuth its leader

1860- The first Pony Express rider arrives in San Francisco from Missouri

1865- The US Secret Service is created

1865- President Abraham Lincoln is assassinated at Ford’s Theatre, being shot by John Wilkes Booth

1912- RMS Titanic hits an iceberg at approximately 11:40pm of Newfoundland

1915- Armenia is invaded by Turks

1919- After Ghandi’s nonviolent methods, Muslims and Hindu’s protest in Britain over British rule. The British troops fire upon them, killing 400. LONG LIVE THE QUEEN!

1931- Spain becomes a republic, overthrowing their king, King Alfonso XIII

1945- Tokyo is bombed, and their Imperial Palace is damaged after American planes fly overhead and drop bombs
